What are the physics in hitting a golf ball?
By: Cory Kozak

There are many forces happening while hitting a golf ball. The golf ball will sit on the tee forever until acted upon by an unbalanced force. The driver is a big unbalanced force. When the ball is sitting on the tee its static friction. When the ball is hit there are many forces when it's in the air. For one, there is air resistance, free fall and gravity. There is air resistance because the golf ball is traveling through the air and the air is acting on the ball. There is free fall acting on the ball when it starts to fall. Gravity takes a huge place in golf. If there was no gravity the ball would travel forever. The gravity is what is pushing down on the ball and what makes it fall.
